Mule Day Barn Bash is almost here and we can’t wait for you to join us for this spectacular weekend.
I took the liberty of planning out my perfect weekend of Mule Day festivities for you to peruse and enjoy –There are so many amazing things to do and see in historic Maury County!
Start your morning with breakfast at Bag Of Joy Bagel Co. Choose from a wide range of bagels and schmear – plus we love that it’s handheld so you can walk around downtown!
Once stuffed with yumminess, head downtown. Our tourism office has some great apps that are self guided. I suggest you follow the Public Art Scavenger Hunt through Downtown Columbia.
While downtown, take in some local history with a tour of the Polk Home or Athenaeum.
By this time, you’ll be ready for lunch. It’s always a hard choice but we love Buck & Board for an amazing Charcuterie board lunch!
After lunch, it’s time to walk the Square to discover our downtown shops. Here are my favorite shops to stop by:
They’re all really great shops, some owned by sweet friends!
Once you’ve gotten your fill of perusing the shops, take your new book, written by a Maury County author, to Riverwalk Park where you can rest and read for a bit. Then walk the trail and see where DP filmed part of the Song For Sinners video!
I’m sure you’ll be hungry again so it’s time to walk over to Red 7 for pizza!
After your delicious pizza walk the block over to The MuleHouse for the Chris Janson Backlot Concert.
After the parade, it’s time to head to Maury County Park. You MUST go to the livestock barns to see the Mules!!! Also, there will be lots of vendors & food trucks (I will be buying all the corn dogs & funnel cakes!!!)
I hope you enjoy all the great curated items we have for you there!
At 5:00pm the Mule Day Barn Bash Garden Party will begin. Enjoy the live string music and the delicious creations of chef Michael while you mix & mingle with David, myself, and other guests.
Sunday mornings on a road trip call for rest, relaxing and reading! I’m a book nerd, so I will always pick a restful morning reading a good book. But if you are wanting to get outside and stretch those legs, there are plenty of natural trails for hiking if you’d rather.
For lunch, head back to Culleoka to our favorite Campbell’s Station Restaurant (featured in the Legacy of Love DVD).
After lunch, a country drive is needed to see our beautiful county’s rolling hills and farmland. When on your drive you must stop at Amber Falls Winery – beautiful views, live music, and wine! It’s a really serene and lovely place. We really enjoy spending a Sunday afternoon here!
Sunday night dinner can be enjoyed at one of our many local restaurants. One ofour family’s favorite is Don Pepe’s (be sure to ask for Orlando as your waiter)! My favorite order: Chicken & Spinach enchiladas w/ a peach margarita – yum!
I hope I’ve given you some fun ideas of ways to spend your time in our neck of the woods. You won’t meet a friendlier community!
